Winners of Çuhadaroğlu Aluminum 2017 Student Project Competition, hosted by ITU Faculty of Architecture, have been announced. In addition to the first three awards, 3 equivalent honorable mentions were distributed in the competition.
In the contest themed "Above Water ...: An Alternative Settlement Practice", the students were asked to develop an alternative building and settlement design proposal to be located on the water with the developing technological possibilities and systems in harmony with nature.
From the participants who will develop a scenario related to current environmental and urban issues based on the given theme;
Triggering critical and creative approaches to be brought about by an alternative perspective,
Bringing a new and original interpretation to the relationship with water, whose context is determined by 'water' and 'relationship with water', whose subject is 'life',
Addressing the housing issue with new living codes, with the idea of creating an alternative environment and establishing a relationship with daily life,
They were expected to consider approaches that emphasize the principle of environmental awareness.
In the competition where the choice of location and the program were released, the jury panel asked the participants to document on the presentation sheets how they used the architectural, geographical and cultural data related to the place they chose in their designs.
In the evaluation session held at ITU Taşkışla campus on Saturday, September 23; principal members Prof. Dr. Yurdanur Dülgeroğlu Yüksel, Prof. Dr. Deniz Incedayı, Prof. Dr. Çiğdem Polatoğlu, Assoc. Dr. Hüseyin Kahvecioğlu, Asst. Assoc. Dr. Dilek Yıldız, Master Eng. Architect Ahmet Alataş, Architect Cem Sorguç, alternate members Assoc. Dr. Funda Uz and Assoc. Dr. Ömer Erem and the reporters Dr. Burçin Kurtüncü and Res. See. Erenalp Büyüktopcu took place.

Award ceremony and colloquium on October 27 in Taşkışla
ITU Faculty of Architecture faculty members and Çuhadaroğlu administrators will present their plaques and awards to the students at the award ceremony to be held in ITU Taşkışla on October 27. In the contest, where 6000 TL will be given to the first team, 4000 TL to the second team and 3000 TL to the competitor who won the third place, the equivalent honorable mentions will be determined as 1000 TL, and the job and internship applications of the award-winning students will be evaluated by Çuhadaroğlu as priority.
The exhibition, which included 86 projects participating in the Çuhadaroğlu Aluminum 2017 Student Project Competition, opened to visitors between 20-27 October at the ITU Taşkışla campus.
